Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned: Technical Leadership & Platform Engineering - Lead the architecture, design, and engineering of cloud-native platform services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). - Define and drive the technical roadmap for enterprise Database Platform Services and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) capabilities. - Establish platform engineering best practices, standards, governance, and automation frameworks. - Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver scalable self-service platforms. - Drive platform modernization initiatives focused on automation, reliability, security, resilience, and operational efficiency. - Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers across the platform engineering organization. - Promote engineering excellence through design reviews, architecture governance, and continuous improvement practices. Kubernetes & Operator Engineering - Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of Kubernetes Operators for automated database provisioning and operations. - Architect platform services that automate provisioning, scaling, backup, recovery, failover, upgrades, patching, and compliance. - Design and operate large-scale stateful database workloads on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). - Establish GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code practices for standardized and repeatable deployments. - Develop reusable platform controllers, operators, APIs, and automation services that simplify platform consumption. - Define best practices for Kubernetes platform reliability, capacity management, upgrade strategies, and disaster recovery. Software Engineering & Automation - Lead development of platform services, deployment frameworks, APIs, and automation tooling using: - Java - Python - Terraform, Ansible - RPM - Shell/Bash - Drive adoption of engineering best practices including code quality, testing, CI/CD integration, and automation-first design. - Design and maintain Ansible-based provisioning frameworks, reusable roles, and automation workflows. - Build deployment frameworks and operational automation supporting enterprise-scale GCP environments. - Develop and maintain RPM packages and standardized deployment artifacts for platform services. - Establish reusable automation frameworks for platform provisioning, lifecycle management, and operational support. Database Platform Services - Lead engineering and operational excellence initiatives across distributed database platforms including: - MongoDB - Redis - Cassandra - Vector Databases - Graph Databases - Caching Platforms - Define database platform architecture standards covering: - High Availability - Replication - Clustering - Sharding - Disaster Recovery - Backup and Recovery - Lead database modernization, upgrades, migration initiatives, and platform transformation programs. - Drive automation strategies that improve scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency of database services. DevOps, CI/CD & Platform Delivery - Architect and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Git, Gradle, and automated deployment frameworks. - Drive Infrastructure-as-Code, GitOps, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices across platform engineering teams. - Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment validation, compliance checks, and release management processes. - Enable continuous delivery and self-service deployment capabilities for platform consumers. - Establish release engineering standards that improve quality, reliability, and deployment velocity. Reliability, Security & Observability - Define and implement enterprise observability standards leveraging: - Grafana - Prometheus - ELK Stack - Google Cloud Monitoring - Lead platform reliability initiatives including SRE practices, incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis. - Drive security hardening, vulnerability remediation, compliance, backup, and disaster recovery programs. - Partner with security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise governance and regulatory requirements. - Establish operational metrics, service-level objectives (SLOs), and reliability targets for platform services. Required Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering. - 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams or providing technical leadership for enterprise platform initiatives. - Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes-based platforms. - Proven experience designing and developing Kubernetes Operators and platform automation solutions. - Deep expertise building and operating Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platforms. - Strong software development experience in Java, Python, or Golang. - Extensive experience with Infrastructure Automation, Ansible, and Linux systems engineering. - Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and platform engineering principles. - Experience implementing CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, and DevSecOps practices. - Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and technical mentoring skills. Preferred Qualifications - Experience designing and operating large-scale database platforms on Kubernetes and GCP. - Expertise with MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, Vector Databases, Graph Databases, and distributed data platforms. - Experience developing RPM packages and deployment automation frameworks. - Strong knowledge of cloud cost optimization, FinOps, governance, and compliance frameworks. - Experience implementing SRE practices, observability platforms, and platform reliability programs. - Cloud certifications in Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD), or related technologies. - Experience leading platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives in large enterprise environments.
