Job Description

Position Summary The Staff Property Accountant is responsible for understanding and reconciling all balance sheet and income statement accounts, and analyzing any variances from budgeted accounts. This position reports to a Property Accounting Team Lead. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Prepare journal entries, worksheets, reconciliation and other documentation to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP. - Review transactions and make recommendations for accruals and deferrals. - Prepares monthly financial reports. - Reviews Balance Sheet and Income Statements per property to verify account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts. - Ensures accuracy of all general ledger information. - Ensures that all property and tenant information is up to date and correct through lease interpretation and cross-referencing against other property information. - Assists in the review of monthly account reconciliations and journal entries. - Meets Accounting Department calendar deadlines. - Help in the approve process of accounts payable invoices for payment. - Assist with the preparation of bank reconciliations. - Assists with the preparation of business plans and special projects. - Improves process related to above duties and responsibilities. Education / Experience Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required - 2 or more years of accounting experience preferred. - Knowledge of standard and/or fund accounting principles, methods, and applications preferred. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills. - Meticulous attention to details and accuracy. - Flexible outlook toward task management. - Real estate industry experience preferred - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel). - MRI experience helpful Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, worksheets, and reconciliations in accordance with GAAP.

  • Approve accounts payable invoices for payment.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with business plans and special projects.
  • Improve processes related to accounting duties.
