Job Description
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience programming in C++. 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products. 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. 3 years of experience with software design and architecture. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The team provides the most scalable and reliable SDN Production Infrastructure for Google. Orion, the Software Defined Networking (SDN) brain that powers Google's data center and wide-area networks within the broader Network Infrastructure group. The team mission is to deliver a holistic infrastructure to run Orion and improve Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) scalability. This mission is cross-functional, touching Orion's own design, the systems that are used for management (e.g., config push) as well as the software stacks that Orion relies on (e.g., Chubby, Network Computing System (NCS) machines). The Team is currently focused on Rollouts, NCS Resource optimisation, gSSD in NCS, Orion Log Collection, Monitoring, Orion Core Apps.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. Responsibilities Own Orion Hierarchical Rollouts, Orion Config. Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects. Execute on the Orion Rollouts roadmap, aligned to a long-term Orion SDN goal. Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers. Understand the Orion SDN domain space, customer use cases, their current and future needs, help defining components architecture. Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Drive innovation and execution of innovative solutions in Orion ProdInfra including Orion Rollouts, Orion Config. Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Design and implement well-defined Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and interactions to present a unified interface to Orion consumers. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.
