Job Description

Tech Valley Talent is hiring an experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer with strong Government Taxation and Tax Accounting Systems experience for a long-term engagement with New York State's Information Technology Services (ITS). This is a hybrid role based in Albany, NY, working as a Software Architect (Expert) on tax systems modernization and support. Job ID: HBITS-08-14874.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support IBM Mainframe COBOL applications for government tax and accounting systems
  • Work across IDMS, DMLO, APS, and CICS environments to support tax processing systems
  • Manage and troubleshoot IBM MQ Series messaging within mainframe applications
  • Develop and optimize IBM DB2 for z/OS database interactions
  • Write and maintain IBM MVS JCL and support operations via TSO
  • Conduct application performance analysis and tuning for mission-critical tax systems
  • Support IBM DB2 for LUW environments (1TB+) including XQuery-based data operations

  • 84 months of Government Taxation & Tax Accounting Systems experience
  • 84 months of COBOL (IBM Mainframe) experience
  • 84 months of experience with IDMS, DMLO, APS, CICS
  • 84 months of experience with IBM MQ Series
  • 84 months of experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS
  • 84 months of experience with IBM MVS JCL & TSO
  • 84 months of Application Performance Analysis & Tuning experience
  • 36 months of experience with IBM DB2 for LUW (1TB+) & XQuery
