## Job Description
CIMA+ is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Edmonton Transportation team.
Working under the guidance of experienced Project Managers and Professional Engineers, you will participate in all phases of project delivery, including planning, preliminary engineering, detailed design, tender preparation, construction support, and contract administration.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills while contributing to transportation projects throughout Alberta.
What You'll Do
As part of our multidisciplinary transportation team, you will:
- Assist with the planning and design of highways, roadways, intersections, roundabouts, and municipal transportation infrastructure.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
- Develop Civil 3D models, plan/profile drawings, cross sections, and construction documents.
- Participate in traffic, drainage, geometric design, and transportation engineering studies.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and proposals.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines including drainage, environmental, structures, survey, utilities, traffic, and construction services.
- Participate in field investigations, site inspections, construction reviews, and data collection.
- Support tendering activities and provide engineering support during construction.
- Work directly with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to project scheduling, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About Our Edmonton Transportation Team
Our Edmonton Transportation group delivers planning, design, and construction engineering services for provincial highways, municipal roadways, intersections, roundabouts, transportation studies, and active transportation infrastructure. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with specialists in drainage, traffic, environmental, structures, survey, utilities, and construction administration to provide integrated solutions for clients across Alberta.
Whether you're helping design a new highway corridor, supporting construction on a major interchange, or contributing to innovative transportation planning studies, you'll gain valuable experience while making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.
## Qualifications
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA.
- Strong interest in transportation and highway engineering.
- Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally throughout Alberta.
Other Qualifications
- Experience or coursework involving:
- Highway / Roadway geometric design
- Transportation engineering
- Municipal infrastructure
- Civil 3D / AutoCAD
- GIS applications
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Previous consulting, co-op, or construction experience is considered an asset.
