Job Description

W2 contract/contract-to-hire opportunity for a Java Full Stack Developer at Wells Fargo, one of the largest financial institutions in the United States. This hybrid role is based in Irving, TX, and is open to US Citizens and Green Card holders only. The position sits within Wells Fargo's mortgage servicing and underwriting division, where developers will work on critical financial applications across the full SDLC lifecycle. The team is highly collaborative and places strong emphasis on testing, automation, and code quality. This is an excellent opportunity for a banking/finance-experienced developer looking to deepen their expertise in a large enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain full stack applications using Java on the backend and Angular (preferred) or React on the frontend
Build and consume RESTful APIs following best practices
Work on mortgage servicing and underwriting applications
Participate actively in all phases of the SDLC lifecycle
Perform automation and manual testing across the development cycle
Use Playwright (or similar tools) for end-to-end test automation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid Agile environment

Requirements

2+ years of Software Engineering experience (work experience, training, military, or education)
Hands-on full stack Java development experience (backend-heavy: approximately 70% back end, 30% front end)
Strong Java backend development skills
Frontend experience with Angular (preferred) or React
Experience building and consuming REST APIs
Familiarity with automation testing frameworks; Playwright experience is a plus
Previous banking or finance experience strongly preferred; mortgage experience (servicing/underwriting) is highly advantageous
USC (US Citizen) or Green Card holder — W2 engagement only, no C2C
