Job Description

SM and Engineering Piketon, OH • ID: HR-0490 • Full-Time/Regular USW INSTRUMENT MECHANIC 1ST CLASS/2ND CLASS PER D&D Policy D&D-HR-PRO-00001: Internal employees must be in current position for (1) year or greater to be eligible to apply. THIS POSITION WILL BE REPRESENTED AS PART OF A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT UNIT. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, responsible for calibrating, installing, and trouble-shooting on instrument systems. Must have thorough knowledge of all electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instruments used in plant. Works alone much of the time and must use own initiative in deciding what is required for maintenance. Must have knowledge of special techniques required for any type of repairs. Must instruct Instrument Mechanic 2nd Class. Also works with Development Inspection Engineers. Receives classroom/on-the-job training in instruments and procedures peculiar to a gaseous diffusion operation. Should be in good physical condition category due to work in excessively hot areas and awkward positions of work. Considerable amount of walking and climbing involved along with heavy lifting; must have good color vision. Should have knowledge in chemistry or physics and mathematics. CONDITIONS OF WORK – AREAS WORKED IN: Works in all areas of plant. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Balancing Pulling Seeing-Color vision Lifting up to 45# Bending Pushing Seeing-Depth perception Full use of both hands Crawling Standing Normal Vision-(Class I Equipment) Sitting Crouching Walking Normal Hearing Raising both arms above shoulders Climbing Kneeling Reaching Must be able to wear company-provided respiratory and other personal protective equipment when required. CONDITIONS AND MATERIALS: Confined Space Inside Work Outside Work Moving Objects Dry Environment High Places Vibrations Alkali Dusty Environment Mechanical Hazards Temperature Extremes Noisy Environment Exposure to Burns Acids Wet Environment Radioactive Material Oil/Greases Hot Environment Humid Environment Solvents Required Contingencies: Pre-Employment Physical (office or field work) Drug Screen The ability to obtain/maintain "L" or "Q" Clearance one year from hire date Background Check Any site required training Prospective employees must be available to start work with Southern Ohio Cleanup Company LLC within a reasonable time frame after acceptance of SOCCo's offer of employment (typically 30 days or less). Must have a valid state driver's license and be able to operate automatic and standard transmission vehicles. May require a Commercial Driver's license with all necessary endorsements. Must also successfully complete the required pre-entry testing
