Job Description

The Role We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Data Products Operations team, reporting to the Manager, Software Development. At Nasdaq Verafin, our Data Platform teams build and operate the data foundations that power critical analytics, fraud detection capabilities, consortium insights, and customer-facing products across the organization. In this role, you'll help ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the systems that support our growing portfolio of data products. You'll work closely with engineers across Data Platform, Cloud Platform, Enterprise Analytics, and Product teams to solve complex operational challenges, improve system resiliency, and build automation that makes it easier to deliver and operate large-scale data solutions. What You’ll Do - Support and enhance the operational health, reliability, and performance of our Data Products Platform. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across data services, pipelines, and platform components. - Design and build automation that reduces operational overhead and improves platform resiliency. - Develop tools, monitoring, and observability solutions that help teams detect and resolve issues faster. - Partner with software development teams to identify root causes and implement long-term solutions to recurring problems. - Contribute to the evolution of our platform architecture, deployment processes, and operational best practices. What You’ll Bring - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. - 3+ years of experience developing and supporting software systems in production environments. - Experience with big data tools such as Spark, Iceberg, Hudi, Hadoop or other modern data lake and data pipeline technologies. - Strong programming experience with languages such as Java, Python, or similar, along with cloud-based systems and modern software development practices. - Proven problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical issues and implement practical solutions. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams. - Experience applying AI tools or AI-assisted development practices to improve coding, debugging, documentation, automation, or developer productivity. Nice to Have - Experience with large-scale data processing, data platforms, or distributed systems. - Experience with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, or platform engineering practices. - Experience with Infrastructure as code such as Terraform. This position will be located in St. John's or Toronto, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
