Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Java SRE Developer to join a long-term contract engagement in Phoenix, AZ. This role focuses on building and operating cloud-native, event-driven backend systems on AWS, with strong emphasis on reliability, distributed systems, and DevOps best practices. The candidate must be able to relocate to the client location and is required to be visa-independent (no sponsorship needed).

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build cloud-native, distributed backend applications using Java
  • Architect and implement event-driven systems using SQS, SNS, Kafka, or EventBridge
  • Design and consume RESTful APIs for microservices
  • Develop and maintain containerized services using Docker
  • Apply software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, and CI/CD
  • Work within Agile/iterative delivery environments
  • Define detailed technical designs and translate requirements into solutions
  • Implement security best practices including IAM, encryption, and secrets management
  • Use Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software development experience, with significant backend or distributed systems experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and object-oriented design
  • Experience designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging platforms (SQS, SNS, Kafka, or EventBridge)
  • Experience with microservices or distributed service-oriented systems
  • Experience with Docker and container-based development
  • Familiarity with IAM, encryption, and secrets management
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be visa-independent (no sponsorship required)
  • Must be willing to relocate to Phoenix, AZ
