Job Description
Job Title: Aftermarket Projects Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Robesonia, PA
Travel: Approximately 15 to 25 percent needed, primarily within North America. Some international travel may be required.
Position Summary
The Aftermarket Projects Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and owning mechanical design work related to R&M projects, equipment upgrades, and aftermarket project support. This role will focus on converting older designs, updating legacy equipment drawings, developing new design packages, and supporting practical solutions for customer equipment in the field.
This position requires strong mechanical design capability, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems around older equipment that may not always have complete or current documentation. This role will also support die design work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and own mechanical designs for R&M projects and aftermarket equipment upgrades
• Develop design packages for equipment rebuilds, retrofits, modifications, and modernization projects
• Review older equipment drawings and convert legacy designs into current standards
• Support the modernization of old drawings and incomplete documentation
• Work closely with Customer Care Technical Sales, Project Managers, Service, Mechanical Design, and Electrical Design to develop accurate project solutions
• Support quote development by providing design input, scope clarification, and technical feasibility review
• Travel to customer sites as needed to review existing equipment and gather information for accurate designs
• Assist with pretzel die, wirecut die, and related tooling designs as needed
• Help identify design risks early and communicate concerns to the project team
• Support field installation teams by providing technical clarification and design support during project execution
• Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation
• Bring a problem-solving mindset to aftermarket projects where existing conditions may not match original drawings
Qualifications
• 5 plus years of mechanical design experience preferred
• Experience with industrial machinery, OEM equipment, or food processing equipment strongly preferred
• Strong CAD experience required. SolidWorks or similar design software preferred
• Ability to interpret and update legacy drawings
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to design practical field retrofit solutions
• Experience with equipment upgrades, rebuilds, or modernization projects preferred
• Ability to work closely with service technicians, project managers, engineers, and customers
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Willingness to travel 15 to 25 percent as needed, primarily in North America
• International travel may be required occasionally
• Experience with bakery, snack food, pretzel, cookie, cracker, or dough processing equipment is a plus
• Strong motivation to learn and grown internally within the organization (Succession Planning)
