Job Description
Customs Process Engineer
Design the future of customs.
At Customs Support Group, we're transforming one of the world's most complex industries. Customs is becoming increasingly digital, data-driven and AI-enabled. We are building the next generation of customs technology that helps businesses move
goods across borders faster, smarter and more compliantly.
We're looking for a Customs Process Engineer to help design that future. This is not a traditional customs role. You won't be processing declarations—you'll be designing the intelligent processes, workflows, integrations and AI solutions that make
modern customs operations possible. If you enjoy solving complex business problems with technology, data and automation,
this could be your next challenge.
What you'll do
As a Customs Process Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of business, technology
and innovation. Together with customs specialists, software developers and product
managers, you'll translate operational challenges into scalable digital solutions.
You'll continuously improve our digital customs platform by designing intelligent
processes, integrating systems and leveraging AI and automation to simplify complex
customs operations.
Your work will directly influence how thousands of customs declarations are processed
every day.
Your responsibilities
Design intelligent customs processes
• Analyse operational processes and identify improvement opportunities.
• Design future-proof customs workflows and business rules.
• Translate business requirements into digital solutions.
• Build scalable process models that increase efficiency and compliance.
Develop AI-powered solutions
• Design AI agents and intelligent assistants.
• Create prompts, guardrails and knowledge structures.
• Improve AI performance through continuous learning and feedback.
• Support Human-in-the-Loop decision making.
Build integrations
• Design APIs and EDI integrations.
• Define data mappings between customers, customs authorities and internal
systems.
• Ensure reliable end-to-end data flows.
• Improve interoperability across our digital ecosystem.
Improve data quality
• Design data models and validation rules.
• Improve master data quality.
• Automate data capture and enrichment.
• Increase First-Time-Right processing.
Automate operations
• Design and configure automated workflows.
• Reduce manual activities through intelligent automation.
• Orchestrate business processes across multiple systems.
• Improve operational scalability.
Drive product innovation
• Work closely with Product Managers and Software Engineers.
• Translate customer feedback into product improvements.
• Contribute to our Digital Customs Platform roadmap.
• Prototype and validate new digital capabilities.
What we're looking for
You enjoy analysing complex problems and turning them into smart, scalable solutions.
You naturally think in systems rather than individual tasks and are excited by the
possibilities of AI, automation and digital transformation.
You don't need a customs background—we'll teach you that. What matters most is your
ability to understand processes, work with technology and continuously improve the
way work gets done.
Your profile
We're looking for someone with:
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information
Technology, Industrial Engineering, Business Information Management or a
related field.
• Experience in process improvement, business analysis or digital transformation.
• An affinity with automation, AI and data-driven solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
• Curiosity, ownership and a continuous improvement mentality.
Experience with customs, logistics or international trade is considered an advantage,
but is not required.
Nice to have
Experience with one or more of the following:
• Business Process Management (BPMN)
• APIs and system integrations
• EDI
• SQL
• Data modelling
• Microsoft Power Platform
• Workflow automation platforms
• AI and Large Language Models
• Azure or cloud platforms
What you'll get
• A unique opportunity to shape the future of customs.
• Work on cutting-edge AI and automation solutions.
• An international environment where technology and innovation drive growth.
• The freedom to experiment, improve and innovate.
• Collaboration with experts in customs, software engineering and AI.
• Excellent opportunities for professional and personal development.
• Competitive salary and attractive secondary benefits.
Why join Customs Support Group?
Every day, millions of products cross international borders. Behind every shipment lies a
complex customs process. We believe that process should be smarter, faster and more
intelligent.
By combining customs expertise with data, AI and automation, we're building the digital
customs platform of the future.
As a Customs Process Engineer, you'll help design the systems that power tomorrow's
global trade.
