Our partner is looking for an Email Developer - Maropost / ESP Migration based in the United States. This contract role offers the opportunity to support a major ecommerce platform transformation by building and optimizing advanced email experiences. You will take ownership of developing production-ready transactional and lifecycle email templates as part of a large-scale ESP migration. The position combines technical email development, automation logic, ecommerce integrations, and creative implementation. You will work closely with design, strategy, and technical teams to transform concepts into scalable customer communication journeys. You will play a key role in ensuring reliable, personalized, and high-performing email experiences across multiple markets and customer segments. ### Accountabilities: The Email Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, migrating, and optimizing email communications within a new marketing automation environment. The role requires strong technical execution, attention to detail, and the ability to build scalable email systems that support complex customer journeys. - Build and deploy approximately 100 transactional and lifecycle marketing emails, including order updates, account communications, onboarding flows, abandoned carts, subscription messages, and promotional campaigns. - Develop reusable modular email components, including global headers, footers, and templates aligned with established design systems. - Create Liquid-based dynamic templates with advanced conditional logic for customer segments, subscriptions, affiliate programs, and lifecycle events. - Configure multi-country and multi-language email experiences with localization requirements. - Audit existing email workflows and support migration from legacy ESP systems to the new platform. - Integrate ecommerce triggers between Shopify and the email platform to support automated customer journeys. - Coordinate with subscription management tools to ensure accurate event-driven communications. - Perform quality assurance testing across business logic variations, localization scenarios, email clients, devices, and rendering environments. - Translate design files into pixel-accurate, production-ready email templates. - Document templates, components, and automation logic to enable future maintenance and scalability. ### Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced email developer with strong expertise in ESP platforms, responsive email development, automation logic, and ecommerce integrations. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and comfortable delivering high-quality work within an accelerated project timeline. - 3+ years of hands-on experience developing production email builds within an email service provider environment. - Direct experience with Maropost is strongly preferred; experience with platforms such as Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar tools is also valuable. - Previous experience supporting an ESP migration, ideally involving Mandrill or a comparable platform. - Strong knowledge of Liquid templating or similar email personalization languages. - Expert-level HTML and CSS skills for email development, including tables, inline styles, responsive techniques, Outlook compatibility, MSO conditional comments, and dark mode handling. - Experience integrating email platforms with Shopify or other ecommerce systems through event-based workflows. - Ability to convert Figma designs into accurate production email templates. - Strong understanding of email logic, segmentation, personalization, edge cases, and localization requirements. - Familiarity with email testing and QA tools such as Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar platforms. - Knowledge of email deliverability principles, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation, and suppression management, is a plus. - Experience with subscription or recurring purchase email flows is preferred. ### Benefits: - Contract opportunity with potential extension into post-launch optimization and additional marketing initiatives. - Remote work flexibility within the United States. - Full-time engagement preferred, with a minimum commitment of 30+ hours per week. - Opportunity to contribute to a high-impact ecommerce migration project. - Work on complex email automation, personalization, and customer lifecycle initiatives. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, strategy, technology, and ecommerce. - Competitive compensation aligned with experience, location, and market conditions.
