Job Description
Fire Department Curriculum Developer (Senior Analyst)
In this position, you will support the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) Training Division. You will work with department subject matter experts (SME’s) to create formal courses to be presented utilizing both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods to train and educate members of CSFD. Development of these courses will allow CSFD to train personnel more efficiently and consistently through the development of complete course content based on industry standards. Course content will include, but is not limited to, formal lesson plans, presentation materials, associated tools used to measure student learning, course material appropriateness, and instructor effectiveness.
This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
- Develop, coordinate and provide oversight of all in-house training and certification requirements for the Fire Department
- Collaborate with SMEs to gather the information needed to develop organization-wide courses, classes, and general training
- Determine and utilize the most appropriate media type to best deliver training to CSFD members based on the goals and objectives of the training
- Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned projects and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies, procedures, and industry standards
- Implement new systems, methods, and procedures to aid in training development
- Monitor project progress in relation to meeting established goals and objectives
- Conduct updates with management staff to inform and advise on project progress and adjust as necessary
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Knowledge of industry standard formatting styles
- Knowledge of a variety of different instruction delivery methods/media
- Ability to design curriculum under tight deadlines
- Ability to quickly learn fire service terminology, processes, and systems in order to iterate them into training material
- Ability to analyze technical information and develop curriculum material and evaluation instruments in support of the programs
- Ability to edit and proofread training materials
- Ability to pair training material with the most appropriate delivery method/media
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while showing individual initiative and accountability
This position requires and individual with excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and solution implementation skills.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field appropriate to assigned area of responsibility which may include education, educational technology, instructional design, or other related field.
- Five years of full-time professional analytical experience specific to curriculum development

- Experience with instructional methodology, adult learning, educational technology, and formal instructional design
- Proven experience working with technology-based assessment and instruction
- Experience in creative project management and development
- Experience managing multiple course development projects
- Proficient working with Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline
- Proficient using the Microsoft Office suite of applications
