## Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Firmware Test Development Engineer to join our team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The Firmware Test Development team develops and maintains a suite of tests to exercise firmware features and functionality. Analyze application workloads / bus analyzer traces as well as firmware specifications to compose a set of test requirements, then implement into a test. Support existing code base, debug and resolve issues as well as add enhancements. As a team member you will interface with and be supported by local and US based engineers in Firmware, Validation and Applications to quickly become a subject-matter expert in one or more areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in developing, testing, and debugging firmware for embedded systems and microcontrollers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and optimize existing code
- Contribute to the documentation of firmware designs and test procedures
- Support version control management, code reviews, and firmware performance analysis
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for project improvements
This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.
## Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- BS in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering or equivalent required.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong programming in C/C++, Java, Python.
- Fast learner. (firmware, systems, tools & tests )
PREFERRED:
- Strong programming in C/C++, Python, tcl.
- Fast learner. (firmware, systems, tools & tests )
- Exposure to AI concepts such as machine learning or data analytics is a plus.
- Knowledge/experience with storage device protocol (SATA, SAS, USB & PCIE) is a plus.
SKILLS:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming languages.
- Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver deadlines and commitments.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Technical writing skills are an advantage
- Be able to work under pressure for quick resolution and delivery.
