Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack Ruby on Rails Software Engineer based in United States. Join a mission-driven engineering team building technology that improves access to behavioral healthcare for children, teens, and families. This role focuses on scaling a core platform, developing reliable backend systems, and creating seamless integrations that support clinical and operational workflows. You will work across the full stack, with a strong emphasis on Ruby on Rails, APIs, data modeling, and system architecture. The position offers the opportunity to influence product direction, engineering standards, and technical decisions in a collaborative environment. You will partner closely with product, design, clinical, and business teams to deliver impactful solutions from concept to production. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who values simplicity, ownership, craftsmanship, and meaningful user outcomes. ### Accountabilities: In this role, you will contribute to the continued evolution of a scalable healthcare technology platform by building reliable software solutions, improving engineering practices, and collaborating across teams. Your responsibilities will include: - Collaborating on projects end-to-end, from feature scoping with product and design teams through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvements. - Developing and maintaining full-stack applications, with a primary focus on Ruby on Rails backend systems, APIs, integrations, and frontend experiences using modern web technologies. - Designing and improving backend architecture, data models, and system workflows that support critical clinical and billing operations. - Building robust internal and external integrations while ensuring reliability, maintainability, and scalability. - Participating in architecture discussions, automated testing, and code reviews to maintain a high-quality codebase. - Balancing independent development work with collaborative pairing sessions depending on project needs. - Bringing new ideas and perspectives to improve engineering processes, technical decisions, and team effectiveness. - Taking ownership of projects and driving them through completion while considering broader product and business objectives. ## Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with diverse teams, and building thoughtful products that create real-world impact. You should bring: - Professional software development experience, with strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and familiarity with similar frameworks or languages such as Python and Django. - Experience building production-quality web applications, APIs, integrations, and scalable software systems. - Strong understanding of backend development, data modeling, system architecture, and full-stack engineering practices. - Comfort working across the technology stack, with a preference for backend logic and infrastructure while still contributing to frontend experiences. - A product-oriented mindset with the ability to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions. - Strong ownership skills, including the ability to manage projects independently and deliver results beyond writing code. - Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with product, marketing, clinical, and other cross-functional teams. - A thoughtful, empathetic approach to decision-making, execution, and teamwork. - Interest in improving behavioral healthcare access and creating technology that supports children, teens, and families. - Bonus experience with healthcare technology, insurance billing, clinical workflows, health system integrations, referrals, or third-party API integrations. ## Benefits: The company provides a comprehensive rewards package designed to support employees’ professional growth, wellbeing, and long-term success, including: - Competitive annual base salary range of $149,000–$175,000, depending on location, experience, skills, and market factors. - Equity opportunities through stock options. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance. - Long-term disability and life insurance coverage. - Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and 401(k) plan. - Flexible paid time off, company holidays, holiday shutdown, and parental leave. - Health and wellness stipend. - Home office reimbursement. - Professional development reimbursement. - Remote-first work environment with flexibility and autonomy.
