Job Description
The Human Resources Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the day-to-day administrative functions of Port Jersey’s human resources department. They are responsible for leading daily HR operations and ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations across all facilities. The HR Manager leads site-specific HR Business Partners to ensure consistency and alignment with overall HR initiatives and company business goals.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and disputes. Mediate conflicts, conduct investigations, and provide guidance to both employees and managers to resolve issues fairly and consistently. Ensure the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement are being followed and the Business Agent is notified of any issues related to Union members.
- Talent Management & Onboarding: Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition & Employee Development Manager to support high-volume recruiting and ensure a professional orientation and onboarding experience.
- Performance Management: Manage the performance review process, provide training and guidance to managers on effective performance feedback, and assist in creating performance improvement plans.
- Policy and Compliance: Update and enforce company policies and procedures in the employee handbook. Ensure the company is in full compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA).
- HRIS Management: Oversee the company's HR Information System (HRIS) and maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Payroll Support: Maintain proficiency in payroll system to support weekly payroll processing in the absence of the primary payroll administrator.
- Benefits Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries. Lead new hire benefits orientation and coordinate annual open enrollment process through ADP.
- Offboarding: Manage the employee separation process, including exit interviews and necessary paperwork.
- Safety & Risk Management: Oversee workers’ compensation claims and partner with Safety Department to maintain OSHA compliance and lower incident rates.

- Knowledge of Employment Law: In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and HR best practices.
- Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Attention to Detail: Highly organized with strong administrative acumen.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing work environment and to pivot quickly as priorities shift.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $95,000.00 – $105,000.00. In addition to competitive pay, Port Jersey Logistics Network offers a robust benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k)-retirement plan, and paid time off.
