# Join Our Team as a Junior Automation Mechanical Designer at Johnson Electric! Location: Ancaster, Ontario, Canada (onsite) Salary Range: $80K-95K annually Vacancy Type: Existing Position Schedule: Full‑time Travel: Minimal As our next Junior Automation Mechanical Designer, you will support the design and development of custom automation equipment under the guidance of Intermediate, Senior, and Project Lead Designers. This role is intended for early career designers developing foundational skills in machine design, robotic integration, manufacturing processes, and automation system development. The Junior Designer contributes to detail design, drafting, documentation, component selection, and production support while building technical competency in automation systems and industry standards. ## Why You’ll Love Working Here: - Employee Empowerment: A culture that empowers employees to take initiative and make impactful decisions. - Diverse Projects: Work on a variety of projects across different industries, gaining broad experience. - Mentorship Opportunities: Access to mentorship programs that help you grow both personally and professionally. - Ethical Practices: A commitment to ethical business practices and integrity in all operations. ## What You’ll Be Doing: - Assist in the mechanical design of custom automation equipment including robotic cells, assembly systems, material handling systems, inspection stations, fixtures, and tooling. - Produce 3D models, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks. - Support concept development activities through sketches, layouts, and preliminary CAD models. - Assist with component selection including pneumatic, mechanical, and motion control components. - Participate in design reviews with engineering and manufacturing teams. - Review customer specifications and engineering documentation to support project requirements. - Support debugging, machine build, and integration activities by resolving mechanical design issues. - Maintain organized project documentation including drawings, revisions, and technical files. - Assist in the development and maintenance of department drafting and design standards. - Communicate project progress and task status to senior team members and supervisors. - Adhere to all company health, safety, and quality standards. ## What We’re Looking For: - Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. - 0–3 years of experience in automation, machine design, or special-purpose equipment. - Exposure to CAD software, preferably SolidWorks. - Basic understanding of manufacturing and machining processes. - Strong willingness to learn automation technologies and machine design principles. - Effective communication and teamwork skills. - Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment. ## How to Apply: Apply online at www.johnsonelectric.com — we can’t wait to meet you!
