About you
A Junior Property Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of a commercial real estate portfolio, assisting with accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
In this role, you will
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties.
- Process accounts payable and receivable related to property operations.
- Reconcile bank accounts and property-level balance sheet accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and supporting month-end close activities.
- Review invoice coding, approvals, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to posting.
- Partner with Property Managers, tenants, and vendors to address accounting inquiries and resolve financial issues.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
- Communicate with property managers, tenants, and vendors regarding financial matters.
What you'll bring
- Minimum of 1 years of progressive property accounting experience within the commercial real estate industry.
- Proficiency with Yardi, AvidXchange, or similar property management and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Area/Location Specific: Richmond, Virginia
Approximate Compensation Rate for this Role: $21.83 to $26.25/hr
Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all national locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
