We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lead Substation Engineer to join our team at K&A Power Group in Orange, Connecticut. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:
Project engineering performance and overseeing including all phases such as scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, contract management and design, engineering design, construction and closeout.
Perform standard and complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations.
Responsible for leading and creating new conceptual designs based on Avangrid Standards and overseeing the work of external detailed designer ensuring consistency among all the operating companies.
Ensure all engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.
Utilize knowledge to influence and guide department engineers.
Provide technical leadership in most complex projects that have a wide impact on the business.
Mentor develop and support team in technical skills.
SME for team.
Liaison/ direct contractors on company policy, standards and best practices.
Work independently with little supervision
What we�re looking for:
A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
Eight (8) years of professional experience within substation design and engineering for electrical Utilities
Familiarity with grounding studies and/or lightning protection is a plus
Experience with Greenfields and Brownfields
General knowledge and application of IEEE Standards as they pertain to substations
Experience and or knowledge with power analysis software is ideal (i.e. SKM, Etap, Easy Power, etc.)
Proven experience in Substation Design should include general arrangement, electrical equipment, plans, elevation and section views, Equipment cable trays, cable design, conduit fill calcs, rigid bus calcs, grounding and conduit layouts, control schematics, wiring diagrams
Proficient in Microsoft Projects, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Hybrid Position (reports to the office Tuesday-Thursday)
Work Authorization Required
Strong verbal, written, communication skills required
Pay Range $115,000-$130,000/annually

The salary range for this role considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to technical ability, experience and training, licenses and certifications, and other related skillsets. The disclosed range is an estimate and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all phases of project engineering including scoping, budgeting, conceptual engineering, design, construction, and closeout.
Perform standard and complex engineering analyses, designs, and calculations.
