Job Description
For more than 40 years, Hamilton Medical has shaped the future of mechanical ventilation. We develop Intelligent Ventilation solutions that support clinicians in critical moments.
Our Hamilton ventilators are used in intensive care units, during emergency transport, and in MRI environments. They help medical teams care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients worldwide.
Here, your work has real impact. Every improvement you make supports better respiratory care for patients around the globe.
How you can make a difference :
As part of our New Clinical Application organization within R&D, you will help identify and shape future clinical applications for mechanical ventilation.
Working at the intersection of clinical practice, physiology, and engineering, you will help improve our understanding of clinical challenges, user workflows, and physiological mechanisms, and translate these insights into future clinical applications and technical solution concepts. Your work will support the creation of clinically meaningful innovations and guide technical development activities towards the most relevant problems and solution spaces.
You will
- Work closely with our other Medical Research Engineers to shape, evaluate, and refine technical solution concepts, algorithms, models, and prototypes.
- Contribute to the development of new clinical applications and solution concepts by combining physiological understanding, user insights, and evidence generation.
- Analyze clinical, preclinical and simulated data to improve understanding of physiological mechanisms and evaluate new concepts
- Collaborate with Medical Research Engineers developing algorithms, models, simulations and prototypes to connect clinical understanding with technical solution development.
- Support the evaluation and maturation of new clinical applications through iterative learning and hypothesis-driven development.
That’s what you bring along :
Education and Experience
- A degree in biomedical engineering, medical technology or a related field. A PhD is an advantage.
- Experience in MedTech Industry
Scientific and Innovation Mindset
- Experience in physiological research, translational research, product discovery, or medical device development.
- Ability to formulate hypotheses, investigate complex problems, and derive meaningful conclusions from data and evidence.
- Strong interest in understanding clinical challenges, user workflows, and physiological mechanisms, and using evidence to support development decisions.
- Comfortable contributing to discovery activities and working in environments with uncertainty, where hypotheses are iteratively refined based on emerging evidence.
Personal Skills
- Structured and analytical working style.
- Being comfortable moving between understanding clinical problems and actively shaping the technical concepts intended to solve them.
- Scientific curiosity and learning mindset.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to bridge clinical, physiological, and technical perspectives and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Fluency in English; German is an advantage.
