Since 1988, we have provided waste and recycling collection services to both the public and private sectors. We are the largest family-owned and operated waste and recycling provider in Minnesota, completing more than 100,000 services each week with a fleet powered by diesel and compressed natural gas. POSITION SUMMARY The Recruiter is a key member of the Human Resources team and is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process. This position attracts, evaluates, and hires qualified candidates who align with Walters’ values and business needs. The Recruiter partners closely with hiring managers, department leaders, Marketing, and the broader HR team to provide an organized, timely, and positive hiring experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, resume review, phone screening, interviews, candidate selection, and job offers. • Identify opportunities to improve recruiting efficiency, effectiveness, and the candidate experience. • Proactively source qualified candidates through job boards, social media, employee referrals, networking events, job fairs, direct outreach, and other recruitment channels. • Build and maintain relationships with schools, workforce development programs, community organizations, and referral partners. • Partner with hiring managers and department leaders to understand staffing needs, job requirements, and ideal candidate profiles. • Review resumes and conduct initial phone screens to assess candidate qualifications, experience, and alignment with company values. • Schedule, facilitate, and participate in interviews with hiring managers. • Provide consistent and timely communication to candidates throughout the hiring process, regardless of the final hiring decision. • Serve as the subject matter expert for the recruiting module within the Human Resources Information System and Applicant Tracking System. • Maintain accurate candidate records, statuses, notes, and interview feedback to support compliance and reliable reporting. • Build and maintain candidate pipelines for frequently recruited positions and anticipated future hiring needs. • Partner with the Marketing Department to promote Walters’ culture, values, career opportunities, and employment brand. • Create and maintain accurate job descriptions and structured interview questions. • Support fair, consistent, and legally compliant hiring practices. • Monitor labor market trends, candidate availability, and compensation data to help guide recruiting and wage strategies. • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws related to recruitment, selection, and record retention. • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Human Resources team and overall business needs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. • At least two years of recruiting or related professional experience. • Experience managing full-cycle recruitment. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Professional and effective interviewing skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Previous experience using an Applicant Tracking System. • Understanding of EEO, ADA, and other applicable employment laws and hiring guidelines. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience using UKG Recruiting. • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Employees regularly use standard office equipment, including telephones, headsets, computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and copier/scanners. The physical requirements of the position may include walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
