# Remote Senior Data Engineer (12-Month Contract) Location: Remote (U.S. Only – Eastern or Central Time Zones) Job Type: 12-Month Contract Schedule: Full-Time (Remote) Company: Sigma Systems ## Senior Data Engineer (Remote) – AWS | Python | SQL | ETL | Data Warehousing Sigma Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a leading enterprise team on a 12-month remote contract. This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled data engineering professional with 10+ years of experience designing scalable data platforms, developing enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, and building modern cloud-based data solutions. If you have expertise in Python, SQL, AWS, GCP, Azure, Redshift, BigQuery, Apache Airflow, dbt, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and cloud data engineering, we'd love to hear from you. ## Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale ETL/ELT data pipelines - Build scalable data integration solutions for data warehouses and data lakes - Develop high-performance data processing workflows using Python and SQL - Design cloud-native data architectures using AWS, Azure, or GCP - Create and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable data infrastructure - Implement data governance, security, and quality standards - Optimize pipeline performance, scalability, and processing costs - Troubleshoot complex data engineering issues - Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions - Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices - Produce technical documentation for architecture, transformations, and development standards ## Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field - 10+ years of professional Data Engineering experience - Extensive experience with: - Data Warehouses - Data Lakes - ETL/ELT Development - Enterprise Data Pipelines - Advanced proficiency in: - Python - SQL - Hands-on experience with one or more cloud platforms: - Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Microsoft Azure - Experience with: - Amazon Redshift or Google BigQuery - Apache Airflow - dbt (Data Build Tool) - Strong understanding of data architecture, performance tuning, and data governance - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Must be located within the United States - Must be able to work Eastern or Central Time Zone business hours ## Preferred Qualifications - 15+ years of Data Engineering experience - Master's degree in Computer Science or related field - Experience optimizing enterprise-scale data pipelines - Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry experience - Experience with BI platforms such as Tableau - Experience mentoring technical teams ## Technical Skills Required Skills - Python - SQL - ETL - ELT - Data Engineering - Data Warehouses - Data Lakes - AWS - Azure - Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Redshift - BigQuery - Apache Airflow - dbt - Data Pipelines - Cloud Data Engineering - Data Modeling - Performance Optimization - Data Governance
