Job Description

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Wall, NJ. Responsibilities - Perform structural analysis and design for building systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. - Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation. - Assist with the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and details. - Coordinate structural design with other internal disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architecture. - Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction. - Assist with field observations and site visits to evaluate existing structures and construction progress. - Support project managers with scheduling, coordination, and technical deliverables. - Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices. - Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or Structural Engineering. - 2–4 years of structural design experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment. - Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire. - Working knowledge of structural design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar analysis programs. - Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred. - Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and other applicable design codes. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. - Willingness to travel to project sites to perform construction inspections and structural field observations in New Jersey and New York Preferred Qualifications - ICC Special Inspector certification or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire Benefits We understand that a fulfilling career is about more than just the work you do – it’s about feeling secure in your health, confident in your financial future, and balanced in your personal and professional life.
