Job Description

ASR is seeking an experienced Technical Instructor/Course Developer to support a Department of Defense robotics and autonomous systems program in Selfridge, MI. This role is responsible for developing, revising, maintaining, and delivering technical curriculum for complex systems, including electronics, robotics, autonomous/unmanned systems, maintenance operations, and related technical disciplines. Responsibilities: - Develop, revise, maintain, and deliver technical training curriculum for robotic, autonomous, unmanned, electronics, maintenance, and related technical systems. - Organize complex technical subjects into structured blocks or units of instruction and prepare lesson plans, instructor guides, student guides, training aids, graphics, practical exercises, evaluations, and supporting Training Support Package materials. - Deliver instructor-led, computer-based, simulator-based, interactive, non-interactive, classroom, hands-on, field, and system-specific technical instruction for operators, maintainers, military end users, and contractor personnel. - Maintain training documentation, attendance records, course completion records, curriculum files, training schedules, and related program materials. - Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, logistics, program, Government, and contractor personnel to ensure training content reflects current system configurations, maintenance procedures, fielding requirements, and mission needs. - Review technical manuals, maintenance procedures, system updates, lessons learned, and field feedback to incorporate accurate and current information into training materials. - Support material fielding, new equipment training, refresher training, sustainment training, technical demonstrations, and customer program reviews as required. - Evaluate student performance, collect course feedback, recommend training improvements, and update training products to maintain effectiveness and compliance. - Serve as testing officer when required by conducting test analysis and developing, validating, or revising test items to ensure assessments accurately measure course objectives. - Develop clarification, examples, application scenarios, and alternative teaching techniques to sustain student engagement, improve comprehension, and maintain high motivation in technical subject areas. - Support training quality assurance by reviewing curriculum, technical documentation, and Training Support Packages for accuracy, clarity, instructional design quality, and alignment with approved requirements. - Prepare briefings, SITREPs, readiness metrics, trend analyses, After Action Reviews, trip reports, and other training-related updates for program stakeholders as required. - Provide technical guidance and support to training staff, maintainers, operators, and program personnel as appropriate. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics Technology, Management, Education, Instructional Design, Technical Training, Logistics, or a related field preferred. - Significant senior-level military leadership and technical training experience, such as Senior NCO or Officer experience in a technical branch, may be substituted for a degree. - Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in electronics maintenance, technical systems support, curriculum development, and technical instruction. - At least two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a team lead, supervisory, operational management, or training management role preferred. - Experience developing and delivering technical curriculum, lesson plans, instructor guides, student materials, assessments, and hands-on training. - Experience instructing operators, maintainers, military end users, technical personnel, or contractor staff in classroom, field, or hands-on training environments. - Knowledge of instructional systems design, adult learning principles, training evaluation, course documentation, and curriculum maintenance. - Demonstrated ability to manage or coordinate geographically dispersed training teams, including scheduling, logistics coordination, performance input, and field support activities. - Strong quality assurance skills, including the ability to review technical documentation and Training Support Packages for accuracy, clarity, instructional consistency, and compliance with approved standards. - Ability to serve as a technical authority for complex system troubleshooting, repair logic, training content validation, and resolution of technical disagreements in high-pressure environments. - Ability to interpret technical manuals, maintenance procedures, schematics, system documentation, and engineering updates for training development purposes. - Experience supporting new equipment training, material fielding, technical demonstrations, sustainment training, or refresher training preferred. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. - Experience with SharePoint, Learning Management Systems, training databases, multimedia tools, or similar course management platforms preferred. - Ability to communicate effectively with Government stakeholders, military end users, technical personnel, subcontractors, and a diverse range of individuals. - Skilled in preparing briefings and communicating with field units, senior military leadership, Government stakeholders, program management offices, subcontractors, and contractor personnel. - Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, safety, and compliance. - Ability to synthesize field data into actionable SITREPs, readiness metrics, trend analyses, and training improvement recommendations. - Strong conflict-resolution skills with the ability to address technical, operational, and personnel issues professionally in deployed or fast-paced training environments. - Qualified applicants must be able to pass a background check. - Active Secret clearance required. - Ability to travel up to 50% in support of training delivery, fielding events, demonstrations, and program requirements. - Government contracting experience preferred.
