Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with strong backend expertise and some exposure to full-stack development. The role is based in Whippany, NJ with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week. This is a 6-month contract position requiring 13+ years of experience. The role primarily focuses on backend services (~75%) with additional responsibilities in frontend development using Angular (~25%), working within cross-functional Agile teams including QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
Participate in system design, code reviews, and technical discussions
Develop responsive UI components using Angular
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders
Ensure high performance, security, and scalability of applications
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems

Requirements

13+ years of overall software development experience
Strong experience in Java (8/11/17+), Spring Boot, and Microservices
Experience with REST APIs and backend system design
Hands-on experience with Angular (frontend development)
Good understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL)
Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems
Experience with CI/CD tools and Agile methodologies
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes preferred
