Citi Trends is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You’ll work closely with the accounting team on month-end close activities, reconciliations, and audits while also contributing to process improvements that help the business operate more efficiently. What You’ll Do Accounting & Financial Reporting - Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies - Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports - Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations, including bank and intercompany accounts - Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments Compliance & Audit Support - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements - Stay current on changes in accounting regulations and assist with implementation as needed - Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries - Assist in implementing audit recommendations and process improvements Process Improvement & Collaboration - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency - Support the development and implementation of new accounting procedures and systems - Partner with cross-functional teams to support accurate and timely financial reporting Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the accounting function and business needs. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field - Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting - Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools (Power BI a plus) - Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment - High level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information Preferred Qualifications - CPA preferred, not required - Experience in retail, public accounting, or a publicly traded company - Familiarity with accounting systems such as Island Pacific or AS400 Why Join Citi Trends At Citi Trends, our Finance team plays a vital role in supporting a growing, community-focused retail organization.
