## Description
Position: Supply Chain Technical Lead
Location: National Capital Region (Washington, DC area)
Work Environment: On-site, with approximately 10% travel
Clearance Required: Active Secret security clearance; US citizenship required
Status: Contingent upon contract award
Salary Range: $136,000 - $170,000 annually
The Supply Chain Technical Lead serves as the senior expert on pharmaceutical supply chain resilience for a Department of Defense (DoD) medical supply chain resilience program — identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, and helping ensure the uninterrupted flow of critical medications to military health facilities and deployed forces. This position bridges clinical requirements, logistics operations, and supply chain risk management (SCRM) policy, with a focus on active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) dependencies, finished dosage forms (FDF), counter-counterfeit measures, and interagency coordination. Working closely with DoD and federal interagency partners, the Technical Lead translates national supply chain security priorities into actionable program strategy. This position handles Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Advise senior government leadership on medical supply chain vulnerabilities and strategies to strengthen resilience and readiness
- Translate legislation, executive orders, and national strategy on secure supply chains into actionable program goals, issue papers, and executive briefing materials
- Identify and map vulnerabilities in global API, key starting material (KSM), and finished dosage form supply lines; monitor global drug shortage data and assess readiness impacts
- Develop and recommend risk mitigation strategies such as strategic buffer stocking, alternate sourcing, and supplier diversification
- Assess vendor resilience, manufacturing redundancy, and supplier cybersecurity posture, and identify opportunities to incentivize secure domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Serve as technical liaison to federal interagency partners across health, logistics, and regulatory agencies
- Represent the program in joint and interagency pharmaceutical supply chain working groups
- Lead technical implementation of pharmaceutical track-and-trace capabilities in compliance with federal regulatory requirements
- Define technical requirements for predictive analytics, logistics dashboards, and early-warning systems for drug shortages, and evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., distributed-ledger provenance, advanced manufacturing) for supply chain integration
- Apply predictive modeling and technical analysis to map sourcing and manufacturing dependencies and forecast disruptions driven by geopolitical or environmental events
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, pharmacy, life sciences, engineering, or a related field; Master's preferred (MBA, MS Supply Chain, PharmD, or MPH)
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in pharmaceutical or medical supply chain management, with at least five (5) years supporting DoD or federal health agencies
- Demonstrated expertise in SCRM, pharmaceutical sourcing, and drug shortage analysis
- Working knowledge of federal pharmaceutical regulatory processes and serialization/track-and-trace requirements
- Experience with federal interagency coordination and executive-level briefing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief complex findings to senior government stakeholders
- US citizenship and an active Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CSCP (APICS/ASCM), CPSM, or DAWIA Life Cycle Logistics
- Experience with military health, medical logistics in deployed environments, or national stockpile programs
- Familiarity with predictive analytics platforms and supply chain illumination tools
Benefits:
- Health (PPO & HDHP) Insurance, Dental, Vision, STD & LTD, Basic Life Insurance, 401k Company Match, & Voluntary Products.
